Pumpkin Show 2012

The Fort Loudon Library held a pumpkin show Halloween week beginning Monday, October 29, 2012.

Due to hurricane Sandy the library was closed Monday and Tuesday therefore we only had 2 entrees this year. Prizes were given to Chloe and Avery Cook for bringing in their pumpkins.

Snap Shot Day @ the Library

Monday, October 15, 2012 was Snap Shot Day at the Fort Loudon Library!

Country Crossing StoryWalk

The Fort Loudon Library hosted a StoryWalk on Saturday, October 6 featuring the book, Country Crossing by Jim Aylesworth along with a Heel-Toe program presented by Merrilyn Kessler.

Stacy Musick at the Library!

Stacy Musick, author of "Waiting For Wings", along with her therapy dog, Angel, were at the Fort Loudon Library on September 15, 2012 for a book signing and story time. Everyone enjoyed their time with Angel, a craft and refreshments.

Sweet Dreams Concert

A concert was presented by the Freedom Valley Chorus at the Fort Loudon Library on Tuesday, August 14th ending our 2012 Summer Library Program, Dream Big, Read! Prior to the concert everyone enjoyed a picnic.

Lullaby and Goodnight!

Mindy Hartman, blind since birth, read a story and sang a lullaby to everyone on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.

Chasing The Dream!

Tyler and Robert Hershey from the Hagerstown Speedway brought 2 of their race cars to the Fort Loudon Library on Tuesday, July 31.

Campfire Under the Stars

On Tuesday, July 24, 2012 the Fort Loudon Library hosted a camp-in with stories and songs by Pastor Valeria Schmidt. Forest Ranger Shawn Lynn and Smokey Bear also presented a program on rattle snacks, bears and campfires. Everyone enjoyed S'mores!

Painting the Fort Loudon Library!

On Monday, July 23, 2012, Mr. Gorman and his crew started painting the old railroad station which houses the Fort Loudon Community Library.

Chambersburg Cardinals @ the Library!

On Tuesday, July 17, members of the Chambersburg Cardinals football team and their mascot, Reddy came to the Fort Loudon Library to participate in the 2012 Summer Library Program, Dream Big, Read! Quarterback Bill Ashburn read stories to the children along with Gordy Schlotter. Jason Fox won the autographed football provided by the Chambersburg Cardinals. The library provided a tailgating buffet of pizza, snacks and ice cream.

Dreams Soar!

Margaret D. Gsell, artist and poet, was privileged to know and work with many astronauts from the early years of space exploration while being an illustrator for NASA! She gave a talk about her experiences at the Fort Loudon Library on June 26, 2012.

Paint Like Van Gogh!

Children, teens and adults learned how to paint like Vincent Van Gogh on Tuesday, June 19 at the
 Fort Loudon Library. Watercolor artist, Glen Sabetto taught everyone how to paint a starry night painting similar to Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night".

Blow Out the Candles and Make a Wish!

The Fort Loudon Library hosted a birthday party for Floyd Stokes, formerly known as Super Reader, on Wednesday, June 6. Dr. Stokes, author and storyteller entertained the children with stories, songs, pinata and bubbles. The library celebrated by launching 30 balloons. Everyone enjoyed popcorn and birthday cake.
