2011 Pumpkin Show






The Fort Loudon Community Library held their annual Pumpkin Show during Halloween week.
Seven patrons participated by putting their pumpkins on display to be judged by other patrons throughout the week. Winners were Audrey Gracey (Funniest), Sawyer Strine (Scariest), Rachel Riley (Most Original) and Nikki Shew (Best of Show).

Island Hopping!





Our tour for the 2011 Summer Library Program ended with a Polynesian Nights program on Tuesday, August 16 at the Fort Loudon Library. A luau was served featuring Waikiki meatballs, pineapple smokies, Hawaiian coleslaw, Hawaiian bread, salt water taffy and island cupcakes. Entertainment was by Tiffany and Mika Ah Loe, of Pacific Rhythm, a Polynesian dance group from Warfordsburg, Pa. 45 people attended.

English Tea @ the Library!






Linda Thomas of Linda's Tea a Sip of Serenity and Lucy Crider, 2010 Franklin County Fair Princess, served tea and scones at the Fort Loudon Library on August 9, 2011. The ladies made hats to wear to the tea and the gentlemen made crowns. Everyone enjoyed the evening.

Gung Bay Fat Chow!




The Fort Loudon Library celebrated the Chinese New Year on Tuesday, August 2, 6:00 p.m.
Cindy Magners and her family were at the library to tell us all about China. Children made Chinese Dragon Kites and everyone had ice cream.

George Naugle @ the Fort Loudon Library




George Naugle, author of The Luckiest Hunter Alive and The Luckiest Hunter Still Alive, was at the library on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. George participated in our 2011 Summer Reading Program by showing slides of his adventures in Africa.

Taste of Italy at Fort Loudon Library


40 people attended our Taste of Italy program on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. They listened to stories of Italy by Martina and Pasqualla Scamardella, enjoyed violin music by Rachel, Rachel and Emily, and had pizza furnished by Nuzzella's Italian Restaurant.

Kinderfeste @ the Library!




Pastor Valeria Schmidt took us on a tour of her homeland, Germany. Children made Edelweiss Hats and played Schangenschwanz (Snake's Tale). Everyone enjoyed Black Forest Cupcakes.

Fiesta Time At the Fort Loudon Library




Rev. Leroy Eberly shared slides of Mexico at the Fort Loudon Library on June 28, 2011. Children made paper flowers and the library provided a pinata and Mexican fare!

On The Iditarod Trail






Mr. Herb Brambley, author and 2010 Target Teacher on the Trail presented an "Iditarod Adventures" program at the Fort Loudon Community Library on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. His dogs names were Bo and Lovey.

Happy Birthday! Super Reader!







The Fort Loudon Library kicked-off their 2011 Summer Reading Program, "One World, Many Stories!" on June 6th with a birthday party for Floyd "Super Reader" Stokes. Dr. Stokes, story teller and author entertained the children with stories and songs. The library also had a balloon launch. Birthday cake was served to everyone.

New Ceiling @Library






On 4-9-2011 Jane and Joe Dell replaced the ceiling in the Adult Room at the Fort Loudon Library. A nest was found above the ceiling tiles which made a huge mess!

Penn State Nittany Lion Visits Fort Loudon Library




On Saturday, March 5, 2011, the Penn State Nittany Lion participated in the Lion Reads Program at the Fort Loudon Community Library. Children made crafts, listened to stories, and had their picture taken with the Lion. Ben and Jerry's ice cream was served. This program was presented by Penn State/Mont Alto.
